Annual scout report
2012

 
   As one of the troop leaders, I am proud to present the 2012 annual scout report of my troop. We the scouts did our very best to keep out yearly schedules and uphold our mottos “look wide” and “be prepared”.


Membership
 
We have the strength of 104 members and the troop is steadily growing. The ranks attained by our members are as follows.

Meetings

   Scout meetings were held regularly on Tuesdays at 2:15pm. Patrol meetings were also held weekly. Court-of-honor meetings were held once a month.


Camps

   We organized our annual camp to mark our 96th year of scouting, at Old Park from 1st June to 4th June 2012. 111 members from both scout and Sea Scout troops participated in this camp. A special feature was the release of a logo on this memorable occasion. The Knight patrol was awarded the best patrol and S.Kubendra was awarded the best senior camper. K.Partheepan was awarded the best junior camper and best patrol leader award was won by V.Puviraj.
One day training camps was organized six times and many professionals instructed our scouts. 


 Services

   Our scouts have helped in several ways at events in school activities like Battle of North, annual athletic meet, primary school sports, etc… our participation in outside activities was district Baden-Powell day, traffic duty at Nallur temple festival, duty at YARL photo exhibition, scout T.N.Bhojan memorial cricket tournament and religious ceremonial inception of the Srilankan scout centenary celebrations, ten Shiramadhana projects and most importantly duty at the 15th governors’ conference in Jaffna.



Special mention

 v  18 members of our troop have participated in the 29th Asia pacific regional and Srilankan scout centenary Jamboree which was held at Kandlama, Dambulla.

 v  Scout E.Abeesan, scout S.Vigetharan, scout SP.Bieshman helped as the international service team at the above Jamboree.

 v  The following teachers were sent to obtain Phase I scout leader’s training course from our college.    Mr.V.Prabahar, Mr.SS.Thomas, Mr.GA.Gracian, Mr.P.Edward Kajan.

 v  In addition 2 scouts attended the training course. Scout S.Vigetharan, scout SP.Bieshman


 v  S.Vigetharan, R.Dean Jenifert,  J.Nicholous Dilan, A.Pirunthujan, M.Vintharakan, Y.Kajaluckshan, MA.Amalraj, JB.Ragul have applied of President Scout award.   

 v  This year we had published our official web site, www.johniansscouttroop@blogspot.com and our official email address is scout1916@gmail.com.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    


Project “Eagle eye”

   “Eagle eye” project was launched during the latter part of March so as to upgrade our troop and uplift our scouts. The duration of this project is ten years. A generous sum was received as donation from our past scouts. The “Chip-of-job”, collection was also transferred to this project.

       Aim
 o   Training president scouts as much as possible.
 o   Fulfilling the troops needs in all sectors.
 o   Training scouts in physical, mental and social sectors.
 o   Linking scouts with foreign and local troops to enhance our knowledge of scouting.

      Objectives
 o   To achieve the honor of being, the best scout troop in the Northern Region.
 o   To train youth to become dedicated and honorable citizens.

We could not have regular activities during the latter part of the year owing to the college activities.


Our sincere thanks

   We thank our principal REV.N.J GNANAPONRAJA, vice principals, scout leaders, old boys (scouts) for their encouragement, valuable support and guidance. We thank our Provincial Headquarters for providing training and guidance.  I also wish to thank our scouts for giving their full co-operation in all our activities.
Three sentences for getting success: know more than other, work more than other, expect less than other.
I wish the troop all success in the coming year.

On 95 years scouting in St John’s College, I am proud to present the annual report of the year 2011.we the scout did our very best to keep our year schedules and our mottos “look wide” and “be prepared”.


Member ship
Our scout troop consists of 64 members. The ranks attained by our members are as follows.

Meetings
Scouts meeting were held regularly on Monday at 2:15 pm .patrol meeting were also held weekly. Court of honor meetings was held once a month.
Camps
We organized 3 nights camp in Old Park knight patrol was awarded best patrol and MTHARUSIHAN & S. KOBITHAN  were awarded best patrol leaders.. And one day training camp was organized only once by our troop. And our scouts had participated in friendship camp (kaluthura- Jaffna) and patrol leader’s training camp conducted by district head quarters.


Services
Our scouts have helped in several ways at the event in school and outside activities battle of the north, athletic meet, prize giving, police army football carnival, school funeral service,  Antony’s church & nallur temple traffic duty and north recompletion program guard of honor.  And we organized 3 siramadan projects outside the school.


Special mention
*Scout M.THARUSHIHAN has participated in Thailand century jamboree which was held in Thailand.
*scout SP.BIESHMAN and E.ABEESAN  were awarded president award
*sea Scout was re inaugurated by our troop during the scout week.
*re inaugurated the boy’s scout and girl’s scout in thevidayalm, mulathivu.
